This is a fictional political horror film. In 1984, after a series of wars and mergers, there were only three superpowers in the world-Oceania, Eastasia and Eurasia. Winston (John Hutt John Hurt) lives in Oceania under the rule of Big Brother, where, like the other two countries, telescreens (a television-like monitor) are installed everywhere, everyone lives under the supervision of the party's thought police, and history is rewritten every day in accordance with the needs of the party. Although it was impossible to say why, Winston, as a peripheral party member, hated Big Brother from his heart. One day, he secretly bought a diary from an old grocery store-- in principle, the party was not allowed to keep a diary to express his personal thoughts-- and began to keep a diary. When he and Julia (Suzanne Hamilton Suzanna Hamilton), who works in the fiction department, start having a secret affair in violation of party policy, the thought police quietly keep an eye on him.
