Neo-Nazi skinhead Adam (Ulrich Thomsen) is sent to a remote church for social service, where he meets all kinds of strange people. But for him, nothing is more difficult than the pious and staid priest Ivan (played by Mads Mikkelsen Maz Mikkelsen). The recalcitrant Adam was completely helpless in front of Ivan. As part of his service, Adam chose to water the apple tree and agreed with the priest to make apple pie with the fruit harvested in autumn. But all kinds of natural and man-made disasters continue to threaten the growth of the apple. Ivan believes it is the work of the devil, while Adam thinks it is purely a prank of God. The film was nominated for Best Screenplay at the 2005 European Film Awards and Best Picture and Best supporting Actor at the Danish Film critics Award in 2006. Maz Mikkelsen won the Zulu Award for Best Actor for his role as a priest.
