Victor (Pierre Maglon Pierre Maguelon) has three sons, Benjamin (Matthew Amalik Mathieu Amalric), Frederick (Jean-Pierre Lori Jean-Pierre Lorit) and Franks (Eric Kreikenmayer), but these three men let him down and the relationship between father and son is very strained. In his twilight years, Victor thinks of his illegitimate son Martin (Alexis Lawliet Alexis Loret) and wants Martin to move back home with him, but he never thinks about what it will be like for Martin. After many twists and turns and accidents, Martin runs away from home in anger and sadness, then meets a woman named Alice (Juliet Binoche Juliette Binoche), and the two soon fall in love. Soon after, Alice became pregnant.
