The Los Angeles police surrounded Joe (Bruce Willis) and Teri (Billy Bob Thornton), who were robbing a bank, and had no chance to escape. Their past experiences were repeated one after another: the action-minded Joe and the talkative Teri had a successful escape on the spur of the moment, and they found Joey's cousin Harvey to rob the bank for a living. Their strange method of robbing the Bank of Oregon became famous "overnight robbers" after being played up by the media, and the three parted ways after their success. Soon, the redhead Kate (Cate Blanchett), who was snubbed by her husband, met Teri and unwittingly joined Joe and fell in love with Joe.
