The film is adapted from Alex Flynn's 2007 novel of the same name and wraps a legendary story of Beauty and the Beast in a thrilling Gothic coat. The story takes place in Manhattan, New York, where the handsome but poor rich son Kyle (Alex Patifer Alex Pettyfer) mocks his classmate Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen Mary- Kate Olsen) by inviting her to his party to make a fool of her. The insulted Kendra immediately cast a curse on him, turning him into an abominable "monster and beast". The spell will only be broken when a girl really falls in love with him from the bottom of her heart. Kyle's father saw his son so ruthlessly put him under house arrest in Brooklyn, leaving him only a heartfelt housekeeper and a blind tutor. Just when Kyle thinks he will never break the spell, his classmate Linda (Vanessa Hodgins Vanessa Hudgens) lives in his house by chance. Will Linda be Kyle's true love to help him get rid of the curse?
