Lang (Tom Cruise Tom) has been a competitive boy since childhood, yearning for a man's life. Young Lang was completely conquered by President Napan's incendiary Vietnam War speech, and a challenge and impulse to sacrifice for his country grew in Lang's heart. The defeat of a wrestling match made him, who has always been strong, resolutely bid farewell to his lover Donna and college life, and embarked on the road to join the army. However, Lang, who came to Vietnam, did not find the heroism he had longed for for a long time, but witnessed a tragedy against humanity. Lang's good friend Wilson was also killed by Lang's bullet in a melee, and soon Lang was paralyzed and sent back to the United States. Lang, who is in a wheelchair, still adheres to his belief in the war waged by the United States, but after his girlfriend Donna meets Lang again, she sadly thinks that Lang's tragedy is the fault of the war. Nightmares haunt Lang, Lang went to pay homage to his comrade-in-arms Wilson, in the anti-war call, Lang finally awakened.
