Brendan Fry (Joseph Gordon-Levitt Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a high school student in Southern California, gets a call from her ex-girlfriend Emily Costge (Emily Emilie de Ravin). She hasn't been doing well for two months since she broke up and seems to be facing a great ordeal. Over the next two days, Brendan looked around for Emily, only to see her body. In order to find out the truth behind Emily's death, Brendan persistently launched an investigation. He looked for anyone or anything that might have anything to do with Emily and got caught up in a huge whirlpool of darkness. The film won the 2007 Austin Film critics Association Best Picture Award, the Ohio Film critics Association Best Film and Best original Screenplay Award in 2007, the Chicago Film critics Association Best New Director Award in 2006, and the 2005 Sundance Film Festival jury Special Award.
