Cloud 9, Disney Channel's first original film in 2014, tells an inspirational story about snowboarding. Kayla (Dove Cameron), the golden girl of the ski resort owner, always thought she was the best female snowboarder in the area, but it wasn't until after an accident that she realized that it was just an illusion that her father used his power to create for her. Kayla met Will (Luke Benward), a pet dog caretaker at the resort, and learned that he was once a star in the snowboarding world. He accidentally fell while trying his first move, Yunxiao 9, during a competition, and was seriously injured and dropped out of the game. Kayla hopes to win true respect through his own efforts, through his efforts to impress Will to teach himself to connect with an action that has never been done before, and Will has regained his confidence and love for the sport in their interaction.
