The story takes place in the bustling metropolis of Paris, where teenagers from the countryside come to their brother George (Thierry Niuwei Thierry Neuvic), but are locked out because they don't know the password of his brother's apartment. Just then, his girlfriend Ann (Juliet Binoche Juliette Binoche) appears in front of the teenager and takes him into the apartment. The teenager's rough treatment of the beggar Maria (Lu Minita Jergiu Luminita Gheorghiu) was severely criticized by the black teacher Amadu (Ona Lu Yenke). After that, the police came and arrested Maria and Amadu instead. As a result, Maria returns to her hometown in Romania and to her husband Douglas (Bob Nicolescu).
