Crisis

Crisis 6.4

Gary Oldman, Amy Hammer and Evangeline Lily will star in the new thriller Dreamland, which claims to be the first cinema film to focus on the international opiate crisis. Shooting has already begun and will be filmed in Montreal and Detroit. Nicholas Yaretsky ("the Arbitrage Trade") directed and wrote a tripartite story: a drug smuggler arranged a multi-group Fentanyl smuggling operation across the United States and Canada; an architect recovering from Oxycontin's addiction discovered the truth behind her son's connection to the drug lord A university professor struggled with the revelation of his employer, a drug company with close ties to the government trying to put a "non-addictive" painkiller on the market. Yaretsky said the film wanted to show that "the opiate abuse crisis has touched every corner of society, and the impact is devastating." The film is a Canadian-Belgian co-production and will be sold at the European Film Exchange in Berlin.
