In the late 1980s, Romania was at the end of the Ceausescu dictatorship. Democracy is deprived, secret police run rampant, and people remain silent and survive. In a remote village, Ava (Doroteea Petre), a 17-year-old girl from Marty's eldest daughter, is in a wonderful relationship with her boyfriend Alexander (Ionut Becheru), the son of a neighbor's secret police (Grigore Gonta). The two men inadvertently smashed a statue of Ceausescu in the corridor of the teaching building, resulting in Eva being sent to work-study school. There, she meets Andre (Cristian Vararu), a boy who yearns for freedom, and the two even make a plan to escape from Romania. Their plan is learned by Eva's young brother Lala Lulu (Timotei Duma) that the little boy, who is particularly dependent on Eva, begins to plot with his buddies to overthrow Ceausescu's regime in order to keep his sister. The film won the Best Actress Award in the "one kind of concern" unit at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.
