In the 1930s, a German chocolate factory, owned by a Russian, was frustrated by the double troubles of marriage and career. He fantasized about breaking away from his life and observing himself as if his soul were out of his body. When he saw a homeless man on the street, he looked exactly like himself. In order to "swap identities", he killed each other. This film is very different from Fassbender's other works. He uses the script of a well-known screenwriter and is adapted from Nabokov's novel. The wonderful dialogue seems to focus on the top 1/3 of the film. The film is bold and tacky and has been widely criticized.
