Richard is a pilot. After leaving the army, he works in a bar and meets and falls in love with his colleague Barbara (Anna Marcy Anna Massey). The rough Richard is fired after an altercation with his boss, and the penniless one has to turn to his ex-wife Brenda (Barbara Leigh-Hunt). Brenda, who runs a marriage agency, received Richard kindly and secretly stuffed some money in his pocket. A few days later, Brenda was defiled and strangled with a tie by her mutual friend Bob (Barry Foster Barry Foster) at the agency, who turned out to be London's notorious tie strangler. Brenda is dead, and Richard is the biggest suspect. In order to put the greater suspicion on Richard, Bob took the opportunity to kill Barbara. For a while, Richard became the wanted target of the city and was finally arrested. Oxford (Eric McVeigh Alec McCowen), who is in charge of the case, feels that there is something strange. After his wife's suggestion, he finds that the real criminal has been exposed.
