The successful and popular comedian George Simmons (Adam Sandler Adam Sandler) discovers that he is suffering from leukemia and decides to return to the stand-up joke stage during his lifetime. George met Ella (Seth Logan Seth Rogen), a fan of stand-up jokes, in a show. The destitute Ella has always dreamed of becoming a professional monologue joker. Unable to pay the rent, he has been living in the living room of his friend TV actor Mark (Jason Schwarzman Jason Schwartzman), along with Leo (Jonah Hill Jonah Hill). Ella is hired by George as a personal assistant, persuading George to share the news of the illness with his former fiancee Laura (Leslie Mann Leslie Mann). George's leukemia was controlled by a new experimental drug. Pleasantly surprised, he and Ella went to San Francisco to perform, and the two fell in love again at Laura's home in Marin County, north of the city. But Laura's husband Clark (Eric Panas Eric Bana) suddenly returns home and everything becomes awkward again.
