Ah Yu (Takamine Hidako) lives a very poor life with her father who sells sugar for a living. Because she had been deceived into chastity by a married man, she was regarded as a "defective product", so it was difficult to find a good marriage. A matchmaker told her that a kimono shop owner named Mu Zao was very fond of her, and his wife had already died, so he could only let Ah Yu be his mistress for fear that the world would talk about it. Ah Yu mistakenly thought it was true, so she became a lover, but soon discovered that the other party was not a kimono shop owner, but a notorious lender, and his wife did not die.
