Widower Ty Valden (Robert Ryan [Robert Ryan]) and his two daughters live in remote parts of Georgia during the Great Depression (although the film seems to be set in the 1950s, because many cars are antique 1950s cars). When Ty Ty is looking for gold on his farm, his son-in-law Will (Aldo Ray) cheats on his wives Rosamund (Helen Westcott) and Griselda (Tina Louise). Ty Ty has been digging for gold on his land for 15 years. Pluto Svente (Buddy Hackett) announced that he would run for sheriff. Swint is invited back to Darlin' Jill (Fay Spain) where he bathes in an outdoor bathtub near a hand pump and faucet. She asked him to draw more water into the bathtub (the water level of the camera is never lower than the top of the bathtub). He was asked to close his eyes, but stole a glance happily. Teddy spends most of her time digging holes, constantly searching for the treasure his grandfather left him.
