Pip (Ian Gruffudd Ioan Gruffudd) was born in a poor family. Abandoned by his parents from an early age, he was brought up by his grumpy sister. By chance, Pip comes to the Sattis Manor, where the mysterious lady Hao Weixin (Charlotte Lamplin Charlotte Rampling) and her niece Estella (Justine Wadell Justine Waddell) live. Pip spent a dreamlike time in the manor, and the course of his life changed. With the passage of time, Pip gradually fell in love with the beautiful and fickle Estella, in order to become worthy of her, Pip secretly determined to squeeze into high society. A mysterious grant gave Pip the opportunity to go abroad for further study. however, when Pip returned from his studies, what was waiting for him was a cruel truth and a reality as cold as iron.
