Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez plays the famous Panamanian boxer Robert Duran, while Robert de Niro plays his trainer, the also famous Ray Assel. In the 1970s, Duran was the scariest figure in the boxing world. Wild eyes, black hair and ferocious fighting style make Duran a terrifying figure in the lightweight competition. From 1972 to 1979, Duran was unstoppable in the boxing ring. He has won the championship in at least three levels. The Panamanian boxer is the only boxer in the world who has been fighting for five different decades. Duran was 51 years old when he retired in 2002. The film revolves around a legendary battle between Duran and another famous boxer, Shug Ray Sugar Ray Leonard. On November 25, 1980, the two boxers met for the second time in Louisiana, and in their first match seven months ago, Duran narrowly beat Leonard, although the match was close, but the referee unanimously decided that Duran won. In the second standoff, the outcome would have been very different, but Duran in the eighth round.
