The script for the film comes from Joby Harold. The script is basically loyal to Thomas Mallory's 15th-century literary work "The Death of King Arthur". The plot subverts tradition and explores Arthur's journey from the market to the throne. Arthur's father was brutally murdered when he was a child, and Arthur's uncle Votigen (Jude Law) usurped the throne, depriving Arthur (Charlie Hunnam) of his god-given rights. He had no idea of his own background and grew up in the mean streets of the city. But when he drew the sword in the stone, his life was completely turned upside down, and Arthur had to accept his true mission.
