Through the memories of a middle-aged man's mother, the film shows a woman's suffering but always a wonderful life-being chased by many men for her beauty, her husband drove him out of the house with jealousy, and his son left alone with shame. But she always remained optimistic and strong, even when she was seriously ill, she still infected the people around her with her irresistible enthusiasm and charm, and finally regained a happy marriage on her deathbed and was understood by her son. The last lesson a mother teaches her children is to always have faith in the small pleasures of life. This film represents Italy in the competition for Best Foreign language Film at the 2011 Oscars. Won the 2010 Italian Film Awards (David Award) Best Screenplay Award, Best Actress Award, Best Actor Award.
