The film, starring Isabel Huppert, is based on a novel of the same name written by Caroline Michelle Caroline Michel-Aguirre. The original novel tells the story of a woman tied to a chair in a house on the outskirts of Paris on December 17, 2012, with a hilt inserted into her vagina and the letter "A" scratched out of her stomach. Her name is Maureen Kearney and she is a member of the Areva union.
