After the end of World War I, Sir Chatterai (Sipolit Giladote Hippolyte Girardot) lost his legs due to injuries and became a disabled person who could only live in a wheelchair. Although he occasionally invites friends to dinner and chat, his wife Constance (Marina Hans Marina Hands) falls into boredom and loneliness. Watching her look haggard day by day, her friend took her to see a doctor hoping to get treatment. as a result, the doctor said that she had no disease, but she was weak because there was no husband and wife life for a long time. By chance, she met Parkin, the sturdy gardener (Jean-Louis Guroc Jean-Louis Coullo'ch) in the woods of Fregeby Manor, and gradually fell in love with him. The two men began to have an affair. After the beginning of this relationship, the wife died and recovered, but she felt more uneasy in her heart for fear that the secret would be exposed by her husband.
