The The Avett Brothers brothers are a folk rock band from Mount Pleasant, North Carolina, USA. The band consists of three regular members, the core of which are the Scott Avett and Seth Avett brothers, who play the banjo and guitar, respectively, and another member, Bob Crawford, as a double bass player. In addition, the band has two touring members, cellist Joe Kwon and drummer Jacob Edwards. The Everett brothers' predecessor was Nemo, a rock band founded by Scott Avett and Seth Avett. The Everett brothers' music is a blend of bluegrass, country, punk, pop, folk, rock, bar music and ragtime music. The San Francisco Chronicle described their music as "as sad as Townes Van Zandt, as light as Buddy Holly, as harmonious as Beatles, but with wild energy like Ramones."
