The old father of the Yugong family (Gong Yan Omura) died of illness, and his daughter Chihiko (Miyamoto Nobuko) and son-in-law Sisuke Inoue (Yamazaki Nu) hurried back to their hometown for the funeral. Although with the help of the funeral director Hai Laoyuan (Edo domestic cat eight ornaments), the couple still need to cram temporarily to learn funeral etiquette. Three days of funeral, taste of life and death, all kinds of reluctance and attachment, all turned into a wisp of smoke over the crematorium. The film won the Best work, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Screenplay and Best supporting Actress awards in 1984, and Blue Ribbon Best Director and Best Actor Award in 1985.
