8 / "Carnival of the Botanical Garden" (Slavnost V Botanickej Zahrade/The Gala in the Botanical Garden,1969), 87 minutes, black and white + color, directed by Elo Havetta, one of the most creative Slovak films of the 1960s, in my opinion, this film represents the highest level of magical realism films in Eastern Europe. Havita's first film shows the joys and sorrows of the Slovak people with absurd and exaggerated plots, with black-and-white and color images from the famous Slovak photographer Dodo Simoncic.
