Thwaites, who plays 19-year-old JR, is sentenced to six months in prison for petty theft and is locked up in a dangerous prison in western Australia. He was tortured by other prisoners in prison until he was earned by boss Lynch (McGregor). JR helps Lynch break out of prison, and the two establish a father-son relationship, working with Eastern European crime leader Lennox (Jack Coleman) to rob the Karguri Gold Mine in Australia. JR has a spark with Tasha (Alicia Vikander), a girl in the Lennox gang, who is in an increasingly dangerous situation and has a growing conflict with Lynch.
