Tabloid editor Bill Bradford is actually an agent for the IRS. His task is to find evidence of tax evasion to bring down the black boss Alexander Carston. He learned that Carston's ledger was recorded by his secretary, Julie Gardner, with a special password. Julie witnessed the murder of a man who betrayed her boss, and Bill persuaded her to leave, while Julie realized he already knew too much. District attorney Roger Quinn tried to get the victim's partner to testify, but Carston found out and murdered the witness. Julie was arrested as a material witness and translated the books, but was kidnapped by Carston's men just before appearing in court. Bill uses Carston to take him to Julie, and the police take the opportunity to follow him. Julie eventually appeared in court and put Carston in jail, and she accepted Bill's proposal.
