Miss Terry Lando (Catherine Hepburn Katharine Hepburn) has a rich and noble family, but the stubborn Lando does not want to rely on the family relationship to enter the Broadway stage. With dreams and ambitions, Lando lived in a dramatic club. Lando thus meets her roommate Jane Maitland (Ginger Rogers Ginger Rogers), a bombastic actress. In the face of cruel competition, Lando gradually found that she was different from others. She acted only out of love, while others were in order to survive. Lando's father decided to secretly help his daughter's career, but did not think that his secret help had caused more harm to his daughter. The film was nominated for Best Picture, Best supporting Actress, Best Director and Best Screenplay at the 10th Academy Awards in 1938.
