In pursuit of "what is missing in life", American Jane Hudson (Katherine Hepburn Katharine Hepburn) travels from the United States to Venice. While she was drinking coffee in St. Mark's Square alone, an Italian gentleman helped the American lady who did not speak Italian. Later, Jane met this Italian gentleman Renato de Rossi (Rossano Braz Rossano Brazzi) in an antique shop. He turned out to be the owner of the antique shop. Later, the two had a secret affection and knew each other from heart to heart. Soon, however, Jane found out that Renato was married. After the argument, Jane found that Renato was really in love with her, and the two fell in love and had a good time together. But Jane had to leave Venice in the end. Director David Lynn was nominated for an Oscar for best director and actress Katherine Hepburn was nominated for an Oscar for queen film, but neither won the award.
