This film is a love story that takes place under the ruins of the American Dream. Melissa (Naomi Watts) is a clerk at Little Sunshine, a 24-hour convenience store, who lives in a motel with her paralyzed boyfriend Richie (Matt Dillon). Suddenly one day, Melissa found out that she was pregnant, so they began to learn excitedly how to welcome the birth of a new life. But bad things followed, Melissa lost his job and the two were kicked out of the motel. Both their lives and relationships are faced with difficult choices.
