The Name of the Rose

The Name of the Rose 7.8

In the Middle Ages, when an inexplicable death occurred in a monastery, the bishop of the monastery invited the famous priest William von Baskerville (Sean Connery Sean Connery) and his assistant Novize Adson von Melk (Kristen Slater Christian Slater) to the monastery to investigate the case. During the investigation, William found that he had been subjected to many invisible obstacles and warnings from others, and he was vaguely aware of many plots behind the monastery. To make matters worse, several more monasteries were killed one after another, and the case became more and more complicated and confusing. William is getting closer and closer to the truth in the deepening investigation. Based on a novel of the same name by Italian writer Aberto Ecko, the film won the British Academy Award for Best Actor and Best make-up in 1988.
