The Whale

The Whale 7.7

Darren Aronofsky will direct and write a new film, The Whale, starring Brandon Fisher (Forest Taishan, mummy, geocentric Adventures) and A24. Based on a play of the same name by Samuel D. Hunter, the 600-pound Charlie lives in seclusion in a dilapidated apartment in rural Idaho, stubbornly determined to eat himself to death. As Charlie gets closer and closer to the inevitable fate, his friends Lizzie (a cynical atheist nurse) and Helder Thomas (a young and promising Mormon missionary) are trying to find in Charlie the will to be saved, both physically and mentally. However, only his estranged daughter Ellie can let him see the future beyond the current state of despair. Although Ellie is bitter, full of hatred and covered with thorns, Charlie can find the last chance of atonement in her. Maybe even a glimmer of hope.
