At a glance, Annie (Megan Flores Megan Follows) is 18 years old, and she chooses to stay in her hometown to teach and accompany Marilla (Colleen Duhurst Colleen Dewhurst). Gilbert (Jonathan Crombie) still loves Annie deeply and is eager to marry her, but for Annie, Gilbert is not the best choice at this stage. She always feels that there will be a better relationship waiting for her in the future. Under the teacher's introduction, Anne came to teach in a private girls' school in Port Kings, and the sad Gilbert chose to leave her hometown for further study. Through her own efforts, Anne finally won the trust of the teachers and students in the school, but also captured the heart of a rich man. But eventually Anne returned to Prince Edward Island, when Gilbert returned home to recuperate because of illness.
