The eight-episode limited series tells the little-known story of Norway's Crown Princess M ä rtha (Sofia Helin), who became an influential figure in world politics after the Nazi German occupation of Norway in 1940. The show shows how M ä rtha left Norway to take refuge in the White House during World War II and became close to US President Kyle MacLachlan. At a time when American voters were strongly opposed to getting involved in another world war, M ä rtha tried to persuade Roosevelt to save her country and Europe from Nazi Germany.
