In 1934, a fugitive named Ben Hawkins traveled with a carnival party in the United States. The carnival is owned by an invisible manager, where there are some weirdos-dwarfs, snake girls and diviners. Hawkins also has powers. He can cure cripples and awaken the dead. He often had the same strange dreams as a priest, who convinced him that they were both expressions of God's will, and he began to perform stunts. The interweaving of reality and fantasy gives Carnival a lot of room to play, and HBO's drama is definitely a visual feast. 2004 has won five Emmys, including best art director, making it the TV series that has won the most of these awards.
