In Los Angeles, Jenny (Mia Kirchner Mia Kirshner), who just graduated from the University of Chicago, came to Los Angeles to live with her boyfriend Tim (Eric Mabis Eric Mabius) and is determined to become a professional writer. Their neighbors are a pair of lesbian Betty (Jennifer Beers Jennifer Beals) and Tina (Laurel Hollerman Laurel Holloman) who have been in love for seven years. The trivialities of life and all kinds of experiences not only make Jenny lose confidence in life, but also make her question her love. One day, Jenny was invited to a family party organized by Betty and Tina. She was deeply attracted by a charming woman. This strengthened Jenny's confidence to join the lesbian group and started a very different life, a different new world.
