The show is based on Steve King's best-selling book of the same name, with famous producer David E. Kelley serving as the show's director, and Jack Bender co-producing and directing the first episode. The story describes a crazy killer who mocks a retired detective with a series of terrible letters and emails, forcing the detective to conduct a private investigation. He vowed to bring the ferocious killer to justice so that he would not commit the crime again. Brendan Gleeson plays the protagonist Detective Bill Hodges, who is forced to retire after an old enemy reappears. Harry Treadaway plays the deranged ice cream truck driver Brady Hartsfield and the IT of the Internet Patrol. In fact, he is the infamous "Mercedes killer". The original work, published in June 2014, went straight to the New York Times bestseller list and won the Allan Poe Award for Best novel. Stephen King plans to write a trilogy, and Mr. Mercedes is only the first of them. The second book, "Finders Keeper...."
