The play tells the story of the owner of the broken boarding house "Inn Pear Garden" and boarders with secrets when they go to find Li Xue, a grandson who was abandoned 13 years ago, and boasts "bold reasoning and close romance". Xin Ruien plays the heroine Yin Duanwu, who runs the Inn Pear Garden to give rest to the scholars who come to take part in the imperial examination. Jiang Xun, Jin Jihai and Li Yun play the role of the scholar trio.
