Lawyer Marianne (Liv Uman Liv Ullmann) and psychiatric lecturer John (Erin Josephson Erland Josephson) have been married for more than ten years, have two daughters and live a happy and stable life. The marriage of friends Pitt (Jan Malmsj Kim) and Katrina (Bibby Anderson Bibi Andersson) is on the verge of falling apart. With great emotion, Marianne found out that she was pregnant and did not think that John was inclined to have an abortion. One day John suddenly suggested to Marianne that he had fallen in love with a woman named Paula, and the two were painfully separated. During the divorce agreement, their resentment broke out one after another, and it was not until many years later that Marianne and John finally realized what love was. The TV version is divided into six episodes, 295 minutes; the movie version 168 minutes, won the 1975 Golden Globe Award for best foreign language film, Liv Uman nominated the Golden Globe Award and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award for best actress.
