The play is adapted from Mo Shubai's novel "The Eldest Princess". In the story, Li Rong (Zhao Jinmai), the eldest princess of the Great Xia Dynasty, and Pei Wenxuan (Zhang Linghe), the chief assistant of the Dynasty, dream of returning to the Chinese New Year, turning from enemies to girlfriends, and girlfriends to lovers.
