Homemade Hero is an "alternative" French "resistance film" in which Matthew Casowitz (Mathieu Kassovitz) plays a legendary resistance hero, Albert Dehousse. Like the film's title, he is a "self-made" hero (self-made), a timid teenager who dreamed of being a hero from an early age, working as a salesman, doorman and waiter during World War II, but relying on information, photos and rumors gathered from various sources about the French resistance, he turned himself into a hero of the resistance in Britain and even described himself as a Jew after the war. Ironically, he became a senior officer and aide of the interim government and a respected hero.
