French girl Matilda (Audrey Toto) is disabled because of polio. Manek (Gaspard Uriel), a boy from the same village, is her childhood lover, and the two have made an engagement, but with the outbreak of World War I, Manek was drafted into the army, and the engagement became a long way off. The war was long and cruel, but Matilda thought there was a wonderful connection between herself and Manek, and she firmly believed that Manek was still alive. In 1920, Matilda received the bad news that five French soldiers, the youngest of whom were Manek, were sentenced to death by their military commission for self-harm and thrown into the enemy's "Twilight bingo" trench to die. Matilda began to struggle to find the truth, she asked a private investigator to investigate, asked someone to check military documents, persevering to visit the "Twilight Bingo" trench survivors, to this end at the expense of her parents' legacy. The search process is painful and long, Matilda seems to have personally experienced the horrors of war, but also know the "Twilight bingo" trench more unknown secrets.
