In the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, a disaster destroyed two families full of hardship. Middle-aged man Shunichi Kobayashi raised his daughter independently after his wife died, but her daughter was stabbed to death by a girl of the same level; the single mother Dianzi (Watanabe Masahiko) met her daughter's requirements as much as possible, but she never thought her daughter would become a murderer. A year later, Shunichi, who suffered great grief both physically and mentally, started a new life in Hokkaido. Shunyi works in the ironworks, works at sunrise and ends at sunset, numbing his body and mind with heavy physical work. Dianzi works in the residential quarters of Shunyi, working hard all day without saying a word. Until one day, the two met by chance, and the old scar bled again. This film won the Golden Leopard Award and the CICAE Award and the Youth jury Award at the 2007 Locarno International Film Festival. It is the first Japanese film to win the Golden Leopard Award since Akio Temple's impermanence 37 years ago.
