Haruki Murakami's short story "all the Children of All God's Children Can Dance/ are Dancing" has been adapted by Scott Coffey into an English film of the same name, directed by Robert Logevall,Jason Lew as Kengo (the book's Shanya) and his mother Chen Chong. After Tony Yugu, another successful film adaptation of Haruki Murakami's novel. The plot depicts Kengo who always believes that he is the child of God and that God is his father. Until one day, Kengo accidentally caught a glimpse of an one-eared man who might be his biological father, followed him through the desolate city, and caught a glimpse of the loneliness at the bottom of his heart. Whispering jazz, dizzy taverns, Los Angeles turned into the sad Tokyo in the book, although the scars on the soul have faded with time, the lonely world can only dance with loneliness. But Variety critics saw the film on CineVegas Film Festival and criticized it as worthless.
