Exchange student Amanda is based on a true story and is written by Wendy Battles, who has participated in CSI:NY and Law and order. Born in Seattle in 1987, Amanda Knox is a linguistics student at the University of Washington. She came to Perugia, Italy, as an exchange student to study Italian, German and writing for a year. She is accused of conspiring with her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and friend Rudy Guede to kill her college roommate, Meredith Kercher, in 2007. The incident attracted wide attention from the media in the United States, Britain and Italy. Italian prosecutor Guiliani Mignini called Amanda a cunning fox and described her as an overindulgent, ruthless murderer who was sentenced to 26 years, 25 years and 16 years in prison after a two-year lawsuit. But there has been debate about whether Amanda is guilty or an innocent victim. Amanda herself is currently in the process of appeal, and Amanda's family and lawyers are worried that the film will have sex with her.
