Based on historical events, this film reinterprets the famous love story between the widowed British teacher Anna Leonovan and the king of Siam (formerly known in Thailand) compared with the 1956 version of Deborah Cole and Eberlena (heroine). In the 1860s, Anna (Judy Foster) came to Siam with her children and became the tutor of Chow Yun Fat, the country's polygamous king. At first, Anna encountered many seemingly insurmountable difficulties because of her different customs and culture, and the king was similar to a "barbarian" to her. With the in-depth exchanges between the two, although there are still many discord, but they gradually won mutual respect, and collided with the spark of love.
