The story takes place in France in 1870, when the Prussian army captured the city of Rouen, and ten strangers from different classes got on the same carriage and embarked on the journey of escape, including a powerful congressman and his wife, count Bell, a member of the provincial council, a Democrat, Cornydale, and others. Among them, a woman named Sheep Fat Ball (Michelin Presley Micheline Presle) seemed out of place with everyone. Because from the point of view of her dress and behavior, she is undoubtedly a prostitute. When everyone learned the identity of the sheep fat ball, they despised her very much, and even made rude remarks and ridiculed her. however, with the passage of time, everyone became hungry gradually, and only the sheep fat ball brought enough food for her to enjoy for three days and three nights. At this critical juncture, the sheep fat ball generously distributed its food to the people in the carriage.
