Donald (Fred Astere Fred Astaire) and Sean (George Murphy George Murphy) are a pair of tap dancers. Donna is a Buddhist dancer who pays little attention to fame and wealth, but Sean is just the opposite. Vain, he always thinks that he can achieve fame one day. One day, the Broadway agent Keith (Frank Morgan Frank Morgan) saw the infinite star in Donner's body, so he recommended him to the opera house owner Persia (Ian Hunt Ian Hunter). Donna knew that his partner Sean was famous, so he gave him this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Sure enough, Sean became popular on the stage and soon became a shining new star, but Sean didn't seem to cherish his success and squandered his time and energy on women and alcohol.
