Burden of Dreams

Burden of Dreams 7.9

The documentary truly recreates the process in which German film master Werner Herzog spent nearly five years shooting the world-shaking business card "Fitzcarraldo" in the Peruvian Amazon jungle. This film records the process of the filmmaker's search for his dream, but it is by no means a behind-the-scenes documentary that almost necessarily comes with the release of the film DVD. He does not boast to the film that flattery is only a faithful record of the many incredibly difficult days faced during filming and a director who is almost crazy about the film. "Boating on Land" is based on real events. Fitzcarraldo, an Irishman, loves opera. He wants to build an opera house in the rainforest and then invites the Italian tenor Caruso to sing it. In order to get enough money, he buys a rubber field to start the rubber business. In order to transport, he has to get a boat into the rainforest with the help of local Indian natives. He finally carried the boat across the mountain from one canal to another. When he was so excited, he didn't know that the natives had their own plans, and they abandoned their boat in the river.
