The small Greek island of Severenia is beautiful and tranquil, like a paradise. The islanders have lived here for generations and are at peace with the world. However, the beacon of World War II soon broke this serenity. Italian Legion Captain Antonio Corelli (Nicholas Cage) leads his soldiers to the island, where both sides keep a hostile distance. The only thing that followed Corelli was a mandolin that dispelled loneliness. By chance, Corelli meets the local girl Pelagia (Penelope Cruz). The two were at odds with each other at first, but Pelagia's elegant demeanor and tenacious character soon moved Coleli's heart, and Colerie's heavenly piano sound fascinated her. However, the good times are always so short, as the war approaches, the two people who fall in love have to make the final choice. The touching love story "War Lover", which took place in the smoke and fire of World War II, is adapted from the best-selling novel "Captain Corelli's mandolin" by the famous British writer Louis de Bernice. Actress Penelope Cruz was nominated for "audience-Best Actress" at the 14th European Film Awards in 2001 for this film.
